The Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Lakers 110-83 during a pre-season matchup at Fresno’s Save Mart Center.  Superstar Kobe Bryant played a total of 19 minutes and new acquisition Steve Nash saw some time on the floor as well.  However, Dwight Howard did not suit up because he’s recovering from back surgery.

The crowd of 12,000 was mostly made up of Laker fans.  They didn’t mind that their team lost, they were just happy to see the purple and gold in person.

“It’s always a good time when the Lakers are in town,” said Gabriel Macias, a Laker fan.

Gabriel Macias and his cousin, Michael, waited until yesterday before grabbing tickets and they still got front row seats.

“I was surprised.  I’m right here and I can high five all of the players, so it’s a good experience right here,” said Michael Macias, a Laker fan.

There were not a lot of Warriors fans, but we did run into one who was impressed with what he saw.

“We’re a new team.  We’re young, hungry and out there to try and win,” said Daniel McHenry, a Warriors fan.

Kobe Bryant was by far the most popular player in the building.  We caught up with him before the game and he told us he likes his new squad.

“We obviously have a lot of talent.  Now it’s just a matter of doing our work and staying focused on that,” said Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.

The Save Mart Center missed a sellout by about 2,000 seats, but it’s still been quite a successful week.

“Starting Monday with The Black Keys, then the big Bieber Fever night two nights ago and the Lakers tonight.  So we’re going to put close to 30,000 people in here this week of all generations, ages and sizes,” said Stephen Tadlock, G.M. of the Save Mart Center.

So many stars in such a convenient location, it’s a combination that excites these valley fans.

“If they could bring them every year that would be great.  It’s only a 10 minute drive and you get your Lakers,” said Gabriel Macias.

The Lakers usually come here every other year, but their coach Mike Brown loves the Save Mart Center so much, there’s a possibility they might be back next Fall.
