They did not specify which way the jury was leaning on those votes, but the courtroom was filled with emotion today as Megan Martzen was in tears alongside her family.

22 -year-old Megan Martzen was seen being embraced by her loved ones before entering the courtroom Wednesday afternoon.
In that room the judge read a note from the jury that said: "We are unable to come to any agreement to any charges."
The jury was unanimous  when the judge polled each memeber "hoplessly deadlocked."

However 2 jurors said they could possibly reach a verdict on one count at least if given more time to deliberate.
Which then the judge ordered them to continue deliberations.
Prosecution agreed on that.
Martzen's attorney thinks the jury will return deadlocked, but understands the courts ruling.
CBS47 legal analyst Carl Faller says extending a deliberation doesn't mean it's a bad thing for Martzen.

"This is a much better alternative to a conviction even on one of those counts because the sentences are so severe," Faller said.

If the jury returns after deliberating and announces they are deadlocked again, the trial could go either way.

"Eventually the court will declare a mistrial and send the jury away and puts the case back in the position it was before trial," Faller said.

If the judge declares a mistrial, at that point it's up to the prosecution on whether or not they want to have another trial.
