A correctional officer was attacked Friday at Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno.  John Ramirez is described as a career burglar with a history of violence.  He was recently arrested for an armed robbery.  He told officers he felt ill and was taken to the hospital.  When he went to use the bathroom he attacked the correctional officer who was guarding him.  The officer was sprayed with his own pepper spray.  Two staff members and a patient tried to help - but were also sprayed.  A Fresno Police officer was nearby and helped to subdue Ramirez.  He is now facing charges of attempted murder.
