Husband arrested after killing wife in Tulare County

Tulare County deputies arrested 50-year-old Eleazar Alcantar for allegedly shooting his wife following a domestic dispute.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a residence at the Woodville Farm Labor Camp, located at Road 192 and Avenue 160.

The couple's adult children were at home at the time of the shooting but both escaped unharmed.

When deputies arrived, the man barricaded himself in the home and would not allow them to check on the victim.

The SWAT team was called and eventually forced their way in 9:30 p.m.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim, 38-year-old Maria Alcantar was deceased inside the home.

Eleazar Alcantar was booked into the Tulare County Jail on charges of homicide.
