In Southeast Fresno, the crime suppression team is going to the areas where gang members hang out and stopping cars that break the law.

It's part of the hunt for the suspects in the shooting.

“All officers are aware there is a gunman out there. It's being worked by our homicide investigators,” said Sgt. James Fowler with the Fresno Police Department.

Police left the scene of the shooting, early Wednesday morning.

Bullet holes riddle the windows of the home where the twelve year old boy was inside with his family.

“We're looking at every aspect that could have contributed to this shooting. We know there have been incidents at this house in the past,” said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer

Dyer says the boy was not part of a gang.

But investigators are looking at whether gangs were behind this crime.

A couple of blocks away at Harmony Church, the congregation and pastors have made it a point to reach out to youth in the neighborhood, after the church was burglarized and vandalized by gangs. The church is trying to give kids an alternative to gangs and violence.

“When you see things like this happened you feel like you're not doing enough to help the kids,” said Bryan Taylor, Youth Pastor for Harmony Church.

Police say they are working leads in this case.

And there will be little rest until they find those who are responsible.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Detective Tony Rivera (559) 621-2445. There is a thousand-dollar reward. And you can remain anonymous.
