Police are investigating a homicide that took place in Fresno over the weekend.

The body of 32-year-old Jeremy Miller was discovered Sunday morning at a home on Millbrae Avenue, near Herndon and Chestnut in northeast Fresno. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police say a fight broke out at the home early Sunday morning when two Hispanic male suspects forced their way into the residence demanding property. The fight left one of the suspects with a head injury when he was struck with a blunt instrument. The suspect, 20-year-old Bobby Esparaza, was taken into custody about a block from the home and booked on robbery and murder charges.

A gun and a knife were located at the scene, along with several pounds of marijuana and evidence of drug sales. Investigators now believe that this was a robbery for drugs and money that went bad.

There is still a second suspect and police are asking for the public's help in apprehending him. If you have information, you are asked to call Detective Richard Byrd at (559) 621-2445 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 498-STOP.

This is the 40th murder in the City of Fresno. There were 51 at this time last year.
