Investigators say a home that exploded in Fresno on Thursday was a meth lab run by a Mexican drug cartel.

The explosion happened Thursday afternoon near Ashlan and Blythe.

Investigators say chemicals from a meth lab run by a Mexican drug cartel may have sparked the blast.

The people in the home had been renting it for about a month. One person inside the home suffered from 3rd degree burns and is in critical condition.

Neighbors say they had no idea what was going on inside the home.

Ben Buford with the State Department of Justice said, "The evidence that we've seen so far is absolutely indicative of a Mexican cartel."

Two suspects apparently took off running after the explosion and are wanted for questioning.

Before the City absconded with our fire staton we had a peaceful neighborhood, now we have gunfire serenades and warfare style explosions. In 2007, this neighborhood raised approximately 1400 petitions signatures to save a small fire station near Ashlan and Cornelia. Later, in 2009 the neighborhood raised over 2000 in two weeks to have a new station built at Gettysburg and Barcus plus open Gettysburg to Golden State. It is time the City Officials realize our fire stations have a direct effect on the level of crime in a surrounding community. Years ago when we had a fire station (before they made it HAZMAT) our firefighters knew the neighborhood, recognized our neighbors, had an open door policy and were active with our children in education and displayed leadership. Now we have poor fire service, and the only time the police department has ever come west of SR99 is for reactive calls (if they come at all) not proactive suppression. There is not a single presence of the City of Fresno, nor an "open to public" structure within miles of this area. The City sees us as the Unwashed of Fresno. Now, this is your wakeup call - give us back our fire station, open transportation access to our community and bring a strong presence back to Ashland and Cornelia! The City of Fresno is fully responsible for the destruction that occured here yesterday, you raped this neighborhood of its assets and then abandoned it at the same time!

American taxpayers are being forced to pay $40 Billion a year for a prohibition that causes 10,000 brutal murders & 800,000 needless arrests each year, but which doesn't even stop CHILDREN getting marijuana. After seventy-five years of prohibition, it's obvious that the federal marijuana prohibition causes FAR more harm than good and must END! Drug Dealers Don't Card, Supermarkets Do.
