Two hikers have been confirmed missing near Wishon Lake, after their vehicle was discovered abandoned at the head of a hiking trail.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed a father and son from Southern California have been missing for over a day and a search and rescue team is now on scene.

Lt. Robert Salazar with the Fresno County Sheriff's Department said, "We have about 15 search and rescue workers searching the Wishon Lake area and we've been utilizing air support with airplanes and helicopters to assist on the search. And we've also requested some additional resources from our Fresno County sheriff's search and rescue posse.

Officials say the father is an avid hiker who knows the area well. He is in his 50s and his son is 14-years-old.

The hikers are from Redondo Beach.
