Temperatures continue to rise through the weekend as the heat wave that hit the state continues.
Here in the Valley, temperatures are forecast to continue to stay in the hundreds, reaching 112 in some areas.
Because of the excessive heat, PG&E has initiated a flex alert and is asking customers to conserve energy by turning off uncases electrical items and avoid using appliances during peak hours. Those enrolled in voluntary programs could see their power consumption reduced. The flex alert is in effect until Sunday.
The heat wave has also prompted a warning from the agency that oversees the state's power grid. According to the California Independent System Operator (ISO), power plants across the state will reach their peak capacity on Friday, and some may have to be taken offline to avoid an overload.
