Long time friend and veteran Charlie Waters received the call Friday saying the committee unanimously voted against burying General Vang Pao at Arlington National Cemetery.

Waters states, "I'm hurting, I'm hurting.. I'm just hurting"

Close to 15 years during the Vietnam War, the General led Hmong troops alongside U.S. Special Forces and was widely praised by Americans. Representative Jim Costa says he's very disappointed at the committee's decision. "We honor all Vietnam soldiers and honor all American soldiers and the Hmong communities that came to this country came here because of their support during that war."

Family members say the General wanted to be buried at Arlington and it’s an even sadder day knowing the request was denied. Family member, Maytia Vang says, "That was his last wishes that he gets recognized for his lifelong contributions to America."

The reasoning behind the decision, we're told is because General Vang Pao will take the place of an American Veteran. Waters adds, "I would give my spot as a veteran, as a Korean combat Veteran I would give my spot to that man."

IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER ANYMORE. ALL I KNOW IS HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE AND WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE HEARTS OF THE HMONG. THOSE WHO DOES NOT HONOR HIM ARE THE ONES THAT ARE NOT KNOWLEDGABLE OF HIM. HE WAS AN AMERICAN HERO ALTHOUGH AT THE TIME HE MAY NOT BE AN AMERICAN SOLDIER. HE FOUGHT SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE AMERICANS HOPING TO GET WHAT WAS PROMISED. ALTHOUGH HE DIDN'T ACCOMPLISH ALL HIS TASK AND GOALS, HE HAS DONE AN AWESOME JOB WITH HELPING THE HMONG PEOPLE. THE AMERICANS ONLY PROMISED HIM SO MANY PEOPLE TO COME TO THE U.S. WE HMONG PEOPLE MAY NOT HAVE A COUNTRY TO CALL IT OURS, BUT WE DO HAVE HEARTS AND BLOOD THAT SHED ON OTHERS LAND THAT LONG FOR THEIR HELP. I BELIEVE THAT WE ARE IN A SITUATION THAT WE NEED TO SUPPORT OURSELVES. WE NEED TO OBEY TO THE RULES OF THE COUNTRY WE ARE LIVING IN. TO ALL MY HMONG PEOPLE, STAY STRONG AND REMEMBER THAT ALTHOUGH OTHERS ARE PICKING ON US AND POINTING FINGERS, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. WE ARE ONE AND EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE LOST OUR "FATHER", OUR LEADER WE CAN STILL OVERCOME AND TAKE THIS AS A BIGINNING. LET'S ALL HOLD EACHOTHER'S HAND AND LET THE WORLD KNOW WHO GVP WAS AND WHO WE ARE. THE REASON WHY WE ARE NOT RECOGNIZE IS BECAUSE WE ARE INVISIBLE IN THIS COUNTRY. WE AS HMONG PEOPLE NEED TO GET OUT THERE AND LET THE WORLD KNOW THAT WE TOO, HAVE OUR OWN TRADITION. WE ARE THE HMONG, NOTHING ELSE NOTHING LESS, JUST HMONG! ALL WE WANT IS FREEDOM AND RESPECT.

HmAllies123, after your post below, it doesn't matter what your view is about Pao, you have proven that you are nothing but a racist. REMEMBER that there are people of all races on all sides of this issue. Proving that you haven't got a shred of decency in you by being a complete racist (as you have done) does nothing but prove your sickness and nastiness. You need to apologize to the many whites you have degraded.

the White man is shaking in this panty hoes. Keep it up, backstabbing American pigs and soon the world won't give a f u ck about you. I hope all other race and country make this an example; when you see a white man on your land—you better start telling him to get off your country or your people will be like the Hmong. Learning from the past, history said a lot about USA. United States of American is like a two face person, when they want something, they will call you friend and when they get what they want, you’re the first person they are at war with. Vang Pao made a mistake when he made friend with a two face person. The price to pay for been his friend: 300,000 of his people were kill, lost his country, and at the end—his friend did not want him to be buried next to them. This is why the people of Egypt wanted to kick the white report ass! “we hate you, get out, we hate white” Thank god, they are learn from past!

If Vang Pao was denied a burial at Arlington because he'll take the place of an American Veteran than why is people like Mathew Alexander Henson be allow to bury at Arlington which makes no sense. He was just an explorer. Shame on the veteran committee for allowing an explore to be buried there but denied a true military general. Also I don't understand this though, why would they bury a POW at Arlington and not a true Hero like GVP. For example this guy, Anton Hilberath: He is the only German prisoner-of-war from World War II to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. He was captured during the war and died in the Washington, D.C. area in April 1946. He was buried in Section 15-C. http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/hilbreat.htm If the U.S. is willing to bury a POW of a German War who fought against the U.S. then why NOT give a burial for GVP at Arlington? How insane is that! And do u think if they change the guidelines after WWII, they can change the guidelines again! and believe only american can be bury there. pull out the list and even canadian, british, and more was there hypocriptical white bums This just makes me hate the US government even more. After all that GVP did for the US, saving all those weak ass American soldiers, all they do in return is backstab the poor man, first with losing the God damn war by backing out like a bunch of pussies, then accusing GVP of stupid terrorism activities and now denying him to be buried at Arlington???!!!!! No wonder why people hate America so much -- they do everything purely for their agenda at the moment. They never care about the past or future consequences. They always make enemies out of their allies -- just look at the Taliban, first they armed the Talibans with CIA weapons to spy on the Soviets and now they're fighting a losing war against the Taliban. Truly pathetic. And they wonder why the world hates them?! Sometimes I'm very happy that Asia is rising to be an economic and military powerhouse and

For all of those who don't understand anything about General Vang Pao, long Story Short. In the early 1960's, President John F. Kennedy came to Thailand and asked the King of Thailand that he wanted to meet the King of Laos (Savang Vatthana). John F. Kennedy met Savang Vatthana in Vientiane and ask him, that would he be willing to help the U.S.A. to fight communism. At first he wasn't so sure, but the only person with the most military back ground was Capt. Vang Pao, a rank given by the French Indochina war 1 during the time. Savang Vatthana asked General Vang Pao if he is willing to help America, and in return Vang Pao said yes. He then signs a treaty with John F. Kennedy stating that if we (U.S.A.) lose the war will help you and your people find a country. Starting as early as the 1960 to 1975, General Vang Pao fought from the very beginning to the very end of the war. Just so everyone knows "Laos" is the most heavily bombed country on earth combine WWI and WW2 together. In some of John F. Kennedy speech and videos, he stated that there are no U.S. military in Laos, that's because Gen. Vang Pao and his military was fighting on the other side close enough to the Ho-Chi-Mihn Trail in military Region 1 and 2. If you read the book call "The Ravens by Christopher Robbins" and "The war in Laos 1960-75 by Kenneth Conboy" You will appreciated what he did. My grandmother's cousins and relative fought as young as 10 years old on the front line. Without Gen. Vang Pao, the death of the U.S. casualty in Vietnam would have Quadruple. Because of him and the Hmong S.G.U. Soldiers, they were able to cut off most of the N.V.A. Supplies on the Ho-Chi-Mihn trail. NaiPun Vang Pao has been fighting in the war at the age of 13, He has seen a lot more than the average soldiers, please show some respect. It’s still a Secret War, and most countries around the world has not been expose about it. I suggest anyone who's interested, please read the book to know the truth.

This denial is showing how BIG our Government is and it's too deficient. The CIA (who General Vang Pao was served) reports directly to the U. S. President. So, is the Department of Defense. However, the Agency and the Department don't share personnel files especially the CIA SECRET WAR in Laos. When we go deeper into BUDGETS, they are even more secretive how each of them going to get a BIGGER bugets. Nationally, they are a team. However, individually they are at war themselves. I would recommend that our lawmakers need to revisit this Arlington National Cemetery business. Don't just let the Department of Defense and Veterans oversee, but our Congress themselves. Just my two cents. USAForever

"That was his last wishes that he gets recognized for his lifelong contributions to America." "Lifelong"? contributions to America??? Whatever his contributions were they were neither lifelong nor to America. He might have been a great Vietnamese military man and led his Hmong troops alongside US soldiers, but he did so due to his allegiance to Vietnam not to America. It is more than a stretch to say he contributed anything to America. However America contributed more than 55,000 of our brave military men in support of his country’s failed effort to prevent Vietnam from falling to communist rule. No Sir, he does not meet the requirements for such an honor. I am a Navy veteran of 29 years and think the panel made the correct decision.

I am a Viet Nam veteran, got a purple heart and a Bronze Star w/V and all that I served in Viet Nam, in an combat MOS, part of every year from 1966 to 1970. Of course we should not show him such an honor! Remember, we sold out everyone that helped us! A tradition we are following even as you read this!
