There are extra officers on the streets of Fresno after a surge in gang violence.

There were 5 shootings overnight Saturday into Sunday.

Two of the shootings, near Blackstone and Dakota, were connected to a party at the Radisson Park Inn motel.

One person was shot inside the motel.

Police arrested two gang members in the parking lot.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said, "Both of those gang members were arrested. There were two fire arms that were recovered. We're not certain that those firearms were used in one of the shootings and we're following up on that."

Dyer says there's no timetable to end the extra patrols. They will stay in place until the violence stops.
