42-year-old Chris Andrade is in the Fresno County Jail on $76,000 bail and is facing a variety of charges.
“One threatening to kill his neighbor, one for threats against police officers,” said Janet Stoll-Lee of the Clovis Police Dept.
It stems from an incident last Friday morning in Clovis. Investigators say a woman who lives next door to Andrade reported he was threatening to kill her. When police arrived, he was spray painting his house orange. Officers say they confronted Andrade and he became aggressive.
“He decided to grab a metal flashlight and pepper spray and kept walking toward the officer,” said Stoll-Lee.
The cops tried talking him down, but Andrade refused, so it turned into a physical struggle.
“Officers brought him to the ground and they were able to handcuff him at that time,” said Stoll-Lee.
Andrade had been a part-time instructor at Fresno State for 14 years, teaching courses in the Communications Department.
The University released this official statement:
"Mr. Andrade will not be teaching at Fresno State this spring pending resolution of legal proceedings. His four classes will be handled by other instructors."
Andrade’s neighbors are now fearful of what he might do if he gets out of jail. One neighbor tells CBS47 he's been fighting with the woman next door for years. One accusation is that Andrade blasts music and refuses to turn it down.
The neighbor explained their theory behind the orange spray paint and it only sits on one side of Andrade’s house. They believe he intentionally did it to create an eye sore and get under the skin of the woman he's feuding with.
Since this became a death threat case, officers were able to search Andrade’s home. While there they seized two guns.
“They were both loaded. One was a 40 caliber handgun and the other was a 12-gauge shotgun,” said Stoll-Lee.
