A multi-million dollar decision was handed down on Friday in a civil case against Fresno County Child Protective Services.

The agency will have to pay for failing to protect Seth Ireland. The 10-year-old was beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend, LeBaron Vaughn, in January 2009.

The jury found that Fresno CPS violated multiple mandatory duties and awarded $5 million to Seth's father, Joe Hudson and $3.5 million to Seth's brother, Jervon Ireland.

Joe Hudson says he's glad the case is finally over and hopes the verdict saves other children from being victimized.
