A man driving the wrong way on Highway 99 near Livingston crashed into an SUV carrying a family of six, killing himself and three in the SUV.

The California Highway Patrol suspects the 40-year-old man from Modesto was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The family was driving to their home in the Los Angeles area Sunday evening when the speeding car hit their SUV head-on. The driver of the SUV and two children 5 and 6-years-old were injured.

The names and ages of those killed have not been released.

Toxicology reports are pending.
