Four Human Cases Of West Nile Virus In The Valley
Four people have been diagnosed with West Nile Virus in Fresno, Clovis and Tulare County. Doctors are urging people to get educated.
"There can be a fever along with vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, rash," said Dr. Giatri Dave, physician.
Researchers believe the West Nile virus is spread when a mosquito bites an infected bird and then bites a person. The best way to prevent West Nile Virus is to avoid mosquito bites by using mosquito-repellant products containing deet, wear long sleeves and pants, and drain pools of standing water, such as trash bins and plant saucers.
"If you have any of the symptoms especially if you're immunity compromised for the elderly, or very young, you want to seek medical attention, contact your health provider right away," said Dr. Dave.
