It’s a wake up call about the dangers of the flu outbreak.

A  Madera County resident died from the flu Monday.

47 States are reporting record outbreaks.

The epidemic hasn’t reached California and Mississippi, but the flu-related deaths are climbing.

Officials are urging patients to head to your doctor’s office or a pharmacy for a flu shot or flu mist vaccination.

If there’s a shortage there, you can visit your local health department.

The Kings County Health Department extended hours to accommodate demand.

The Fresno County Health Department is quickly going through 3,000 new doses.

“People will not be turned away from the health department,” said Leticia Berber.

Those at high risk for developing the flu include:

Children younger than 2-years old, adults 65-years and older, and pregnant women.
