Family members are still in shock over the loss of three young men. “It's a nightmare and I haven't woken up yet and that's my only son,” said David Trejo Sr. Victim’s father.
The three men who died, David Trejo, Joseph Sarabia, and Isaiah Vasquez of Fowler were on their way to Reedley College early Tuesday morning. Family members say they may have been late to class. The CHP says the driver missed a stop sign, hitting a car, ending up on its side next to a telephone pole.
“We had four people pinned in one vehicle, two people pinned in a second vehicle and in addition to complications involved with the pinned victims,” said Chris Bump, Cal-Fire.
A young woman who family members say was one of the victim's girlfriend is in critical condition. Reedley College received the news later in the afternoon that they were all students and is planning an event to honor them.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family, friends and relatives of these students,” said Sandra Fuentes, Reedley College.
Family members tell me, the young men were good guys, never got into trouble and had a bright a future ahead of them.
“I'm never going to see my son no more, not today, not tomorrow, not next week,” said Trejo.
Family members say through their faith they will get through this tragic loss. They have this message for parents.
“When you get home and you see your kids, you hug them and you love them and you tell them how much you care about them,” said John Trejo, Victim’s uncle.
