Four men are under arrest after they robbed a man at Fresno’s Fashion Fair Mall.
And police made an unusual discovery in the getaway car.
Two of the accused thieves were captured about a mile away from Fresno’s fashion fair mall.
They'd tried to run from police but ended up in a cul de sac.
“We were just standing over here me and the alarm salesman,” said Sue Daffron.
She was getting the sales pitch - why she should get a security system - when the criminals and cops pulled up.
“We were standing out here and here comes this white car and all these police cars behind him. And they got right there and the doors flew open and four or five guys just flew out,” Daffron said.
The crooks jumped fences to try and get away.
But they were quickly captured.
Investigators said the thieves had robbed a man at the mall.
They'd pulled a gun and taken his wallet.
“He was just standing there waiting for a ride to come pick him up and he was assaulted and robbed right there,” said Sgt. Tim Tietjen with the Fresno Police Department.
It turns out the SUV the thieves were in was a stolen car.
Inside, police found the gun used in the hold up. It's a fake - a replica.
Police think these crooks could be responsible for other hold-ups.
“This wasn't just one independent incident. I'm sure there was more to come or there had been,” Tietjen said.
Four men were arrested.
They charged with the robbery.
By the way, in that stolen SUV police also found a snake in a soda bottle.
We're not sure what it has to do with the hold-up or the crooks...
But it now has a new home. The alarm salesman adopted it.
And Sue - she ended up buying the security system.
“So I have home security now,” Daffron said.
