Update: Robert Davis III has been located and is back in custody.
The escaped inmate was found hiding in an apartment garage near downtown Fresno.
A second man was also arrested, accused of helping Davis hide.
A correctional officer unshackled a prisoner to use the restroom at Community Regional Medical Center but he fled the emergency room on foot.
25-year-old Robert Davis III said he had taken the drug ecstasy before his arrest, so a correctional officer took him to the emergency room for treatment.
Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Curtice said, "Mr davis requested to use the restroom. He was unshackled at that time and escorted into the restroom. Several minutes later the door opened and he sprinted out of the bathroom through the ER and out of the hospital."
Police officers and sheriff's deputies searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate him.
Davis is 5'11: tall, 200 pounds, with short, receding black hair. He was wearing red knee-length shorts and a blue short sleeve shirt.
Davis is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call (559) 488-3111.
