It was a frightening moment for those who witnessed the shooting that took place at Valley Protein, Tuesday morning.

"We were here and we heard all the sirens i thought it was an accident down the street," said Steve Andreotti.

While some heard sirens, others heard gun shots.

"They said somebody was shooting. I know a lot of them," Felipe Artaze said.

Felipe  Artaze owns this taco shop near Valley Protein and says he's gotten to know most of their employees since many of them are customers at his restaurant, but Artaze says he wasn't sure if any of the guys he knew had any connection to the shooting.

"I dont know who is invovled in that thing," Artaze said. But when we showed him a photo of the suspect, identified as Lawrence Jones, Artaze was taken by surprised.

"Yeah, he is my customer."

A frequent customer he says, and he never thought to picture Jones in a negative light.

"He came with the other  guys too, he's very friendly. I don't know what happened," Artaze said.

Even the suspect''s boss didn't see that one coming.

"Nobody did anything to provoke it or expected anything to come," Bob Koyle, Valley Protein owner said.

That's exactly what worries other business owners like Steve Andreotti. He says nowadays a background check doesn't put him at ease.

"You can do a background check all you want, but that doesn't prevent anything from happening; you don't know who they really are," Andreotti said.
