There is still no word on what forced a Fresno flight instructor to make an emergency landing.

The pilot brought the plane down in a field near Church and Walnut.

The engine stopped working just as the student was preparing to land at the Chandler airport.

The instructor grabbed the controls and figured the safest option was to aim for an open field.

Flight instructor Robert Jones said, "I aimed for the field. We were a little bit fast, tried to get it in and luckily once I got it landed, I was able to get it stopped before hitting that pole there. So we were able to walk away from it and I think the plane is in tact as well, so it may be a good day today."

The planes stopped about 50 feet from a power pole.

Neither the student nor the instructor were injured.
