CBS47 is On Your Side with a way to help protect seniors against elder abuse.

A 45-year-old Fresno woman was arrested earlier this week for 200-counts of theft and burglary involving seniors.

Leisha Nelson is accused of using personal information to steal money from the elderly.

Clovis Adult Education is offering a special class this fall to show people how to recognize and prevent elder abuse.

Cynthia Benzler with Castle Keep Abuse Prevention said, "What we're doing is aiming at educating families and caregivers on how to prevent it because the seniors, when you hit 70, 75, 80, you get to the point where you cannot redevelop that social vigilance that you use to protect yourself."

The first class will meet on Wednesday, January 9th at the Clovis Adult Education, located at Herndon and Sunnyside in Clovis.
