Fire crews in Fresno battled an early morning house fire.

The fire started at a vacant house around 5:00 a.m. near Clinton and Blackstone.

Battalion Chief Casey Clark with the Fresno Fire Department said, "Fire crews went into action and were able to extinguish the fire. We did have concerns a lot of fire brands, firebrands were falling onto the house next door, so we made sure that house did not catch on fire as well."

No word yet what caused the fire.

Damage to the vacant home was extensive but there is no cost estimate at this time.
