It was a long night for Fresno Police as they worked on a murder investigation for nearly 12 hours.
" We located a male who happened to be deceased in the breeze way courtyard," said Lt. Phil Cooley.
Police were called out to the scene for a report of shots fired, but those who live in the Whispering Woods apartment complex say they never heard a thing.
" We didn't hear any gun shots," said Francisco Villanueva.
No gun shot, but some neighbors say it was far from quiet.
They say the sound of a car zooming out of the driveway late at night got their attention.
" You hear the motor running going out of apartment, and then you hear it come back," said Villanueva.
When police arrived on scene, they found 35 year old Billy Burrel lying dead on the sidewalk.
Neighbors saw something that struck them as odd.
The murder victim was wearing blue latex gloves.
" As I saw him from that way, I did notice those gloves on him. I think that was strange," said Villanueva.
Police are still piecing the clues together in this baffling case, and those who live in this complex say criminal activity there is routine.
" They're always some kind of activity here. We've had cars broken into, we've had domestic fighting," Anna Samaan said.
It's enough to drive some people away.
" I'm so planning on moving out; the sooner the better," Ciara Rodriguez said.
