Some firefighters from the Valley are on the front lines in Southern California, but as they were leaving, they were able to save a home in Southwest Fresno.

It happened around 4:00 p.m. in the area of Church and Lily.

A garage caught fire and flames were threatening a nearby home but the strike team was there in minutes.

Battalion Chief Ron Stogdell with Fresno Fire said, "First crews arrived, ironically were a strike team of engines heading to Riverside County to assist in the wildland development there."

Firefighters believe the blaze was sparked by a downed power line.
