A South Valley correctional officer is under arrest.
He's accused of sexually assaulting a child under 14.
33-year-old Michael Risenhoover is a nine year veteran of the Tulare County Sheriff's Department.
The alleged abuse was reported to the Sheriff's department by Pixley Unified School District.
Back in March, the victim told someone at the district that she had been sexually assaulted. And she said the person who assaulted her was Michael Risenhoover.
The victim is under a girl under fourteen years of age.
The alleged abuse took place in Pixley, which is where Risenhoover and the victim live. And it allegedly occurred over several years.
"So we believe it went over about a three year time frame and there are several counts of unlawful acts with a minor that range from child molestation and things of that nature," said Lt. Cheri Lehner with the Tulare County Sheriff's Department.
Risenhoover resigned his position with the department. He has worked in the men's correctional facility for the past several years.
He is being held on more than a million dollars bail.
