The Fresno County Board of Supervisors wants more time before signing-off on a special election for the City of Fresno's residential trash vote.
They want to save tax dollars by consolidating the Fresno election with the special elections to fill the seat vacated by State Senator Michael Rubio.
Right now, the city and the county are facing three elections in a matter or 60 days of each other: a primary election and a runoff election for the Rubio seat and the City of Fresno's trash vote.
Supervisor Andreas Borgeas said, "Elections are not free; they're extremely expensive for the county, extremely expensive for the city. And with the trash vote that's going to be on the be on the ballot for the city, that could cost anywhere from 750 [thousand] to a million dollars."
Supervisors will be talking to the governor and city leaders about consolidating the elections.
