A special thank you to the people of the Central Valley for making this year's Feed the Need / CBS47 Collection Drive such a huge success.
There was a steady stream of cars from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th at the CBS47 Studios, as viewers dropped off over 17,000 pounds of food, which is about 7,000 pounds more than last year.
Captain Dwaine Breazeale with the Salvation Army said, "It was an incredible success - more successful than last year. The need is greater but the people from the community just seem to come together whenever there's a great need."
And thanks to the Big Fresno Fair, we gave out 1,000 tickets to the fair to people who donated a minimum of 12 cans. The stream of cars was so steady that all 1,000 tickets were gone before 2:00 p.m.
Thank you very much for supporting the collection drive and helping the people who need it most in our community.
We also want thank all the volunteers who helped with the collection drive, including the folks from the Fresno Fair, Community Food Bank and Salvation Army.
