A suspected car thief led Fresno Police, Sheriff’s Deputies, and the CHP on a chase through Fresno and Clovis Saturday night.The man crashed into an innocent driver at Kings Canyon and Clovis before he drove through a park filled with people, plowing through picnic tables before a man tackled him to the ground
The chase started around 7:30pm and ended at Roeding Park in Central Fresno 45 minutes later.
Eddie Carbola was at the park celebrating his boy’s birthday when he and his friend kicked into action.
“My friend grabbed him and I came second grabbed him… took him down… that's when the cops came and started tasing him,” Carbola said.
His girlfriend Victoria Alvarado tried keeping everyone back.
“I was scared for everyone else to grab the children… I was grabbing my kid...making sure no one else would get hit. I was scared. It was crazy,” Alvarado said.
Police arrested Roberto Silguero and took him away in an ambulance. He’s accused of leading police on the chase and felony hit and run.
Silguero is on parole for possession of a stolen vehicle.
