A recent burglary of the Eagles Lodge in Exeter has community members searching for answers.

Thieves emptied the lodge's safe Sunday night.

Holes in the ceiling show where burglars ripped out security cameras.

The crooks apparently broke in through the front door after business hours.

Trustee Wally Ewing said, "Well, it's pretty heartbreaking. I mean, a lot of people do a lot of work trying to raise money for several different benefits that we donate money to and our members are pretty upset with the whole case."

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization that holds fundraisers to support multiple charities.

Much of the money stolen was headed for one of the dozen charities the Eagles Lodge donates to.

Members plan to hold a rib cook-off in April to make up for some of the stolen money.
