Mail carriers across the country are dealing with what is known as the busiest shipping day of the year.

A lot of commotion found in post office parking lots, and inside long lines. Nearly 660 million pieces of mail will be processed across the nation.

Geri Sperling has been sending her special Christmas cookies to family and friends all over the country for the last 20 years. It's a tradition she started with her mother.

Postmasters expect close to 600,000 pieces of mail to come in from post offices in Fresno alone.

Monday’s the last day international packages are guaranteed to arrive by Christmas.

“We have additional people here working with us to ensure we provide services as quickly as possible during our peak season,” said Fresno Postmaster, Eve Forrest.

Kiosks located at the front of the post offices allow you to print postages to avoid some of the long wait times.

“In addition, we have the USPS.com/holiday. You can go online and print your own postage and receive a 16% discount on postage,” said Forrest.

You can ship priority mail until Friday and it should make it by Christmas, after that express shipping comes guaranteed, but prices vary.

Sperling packs her cookies into the flat rate boxes to ensure her holiday treats are enjoyed on Christmas day.

“It's not christmas unless we have these,” said Sperling.
