Late this afternoon, legislators passed the main budget bill.  Friday was the deadline before lawmakers stopped getting paid.

One big item of interest in the valley is funding to open the veterans home in Fresno.  Even though the budget has passed through the senate and assembly, Governor Brown has the final say.  He could take 12 days to make a decision.

There's a $15 million dollar deficit the state has to close.  One big sticking point was that democrats wanted fewer welfare cuts than the governor proposed.  Republicans are urging Governor Brown not to sign the budget because they say it's incomplete.
