Body found in burning car

A suspicious death is under investigation in Merced County.

A body was found inside a burning vehicle in a remote area.

The car was parked on County Road 37/Santa Fe Drive, between Turlock and Atwater.

At first, it appeared to be an accident but investigators believe there may be more to the case.

The body was burned beyond recognition, so detectives are now waiting for the results of an autopsy.
