The 2012 Big Fresno Fair opened Wednesday morning and runs through Sunday, October 14th.

Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Congressman Jim Costa were on hand to help kickoff the fair.

Fresno County Superintendent Larry Powell was also there to talk about the Kickoff Day 4.0 & Above Program for high school students.

The 4.0 & Above Program provides an opportunity for all Fresno County high school students who have a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or above as of June 2012 to get into the fair for free on opening day. Participants are also qualified to win prizes like iPods, educational scholarships, and even a car.
