A Madera couple and their female friend from Chowchilla are accused of stealing 500 feet of copper wire from a railroad in Madera County, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages.

The lines were stolen from Union Pacific Railroad.

Trains were halted Saturday but were back up and running shortly after.

The suspects were arrested over the weekend when a farmer spotted them allegedly running off into a field.

Bail is set for $100,000 each.

There are many individuals doing this type of stuff. My neighbors are burning the wire almost every night. Not only are they thiefs but the inhalation of smoke can be detrimental to my health. We call the sheriff dept all the time and they don't seemt to care. How far does it have to go before they actually do something?
