A 12-year-old Fresno boy has been shot at his home in Southeast Fresno.

Neighbors heard four to five gunshots around nine Tuesday night.

The shooting happened in the 4600 block of Backer, near Maple and Tulare.

The child was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. His mother was with him. And at last report, the child was in serious condition.

Fresno police have every detective in the city working the case to find the suspect or suspects. Officers are checking cameras – traffic cameras, businesses with security cameras – to see if they captured an image of the suspects.

Detectives and the police department’s special Impact Teams are following up on leads in the case.

Police expect to be on the scene until the morning.
