Woman killed in train accident identified

Update:
The woman killed when she was struck by a train in Fresno on Wednesday has been identified as Virginia Palomino.

The unknown male victim was not seriously injured.




A woman was killed and a man was injured when they were struck by a passing train near Shields and Maroa.

The deadly accident happened around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

It's unknown if the couple was just walking too close or if they were trying to beat the train when they were hit.

Lt. Mike Doyle with the Fresno Police Department said, "There is equipment from the train that does stick out and it probably took them by surprise."

The victims names have not been released.
