A woman is clinging to life and police are on the hunt for her attacker.

Police say the woman was badly beaten and found outside the popular Italian restaurant Fugazzi’s, off Main Street in Downtown Visalia.

The attack happened around 4:30 Monday morning.

People say Downtown is busy around that time.

But police are still reviewing surveillance video and following few leads.

They have questioned a person of interest but no one has been arrested, and people are on alert.

“We make sure to look around and know what's going on around us. It's getting pretty bad when it's...right in Visalia,” said Rowena Wirht before walking into Fugazzi’s for dinner.

“When things occur like this and a victim isn't able to speak to us. One of the things the investigator might do is try to retrace the victim's steps prior to the assault,” said Sgt. Amy Watkins.

If you have any information about the attack-you're urged to Detective Ken Smythe at 559-713- 4722.
