Heavy rain turned to mist by nightfall in Fresno. It was the end of what's been a wet week in the Central Valley.
“I have not enjoyed it. I'm getting drenched everywhere I go,” said Deondre Lee.
Earlier in the day, drivers plowed through puddles and at River Park. Shoppers tried to dodge the drops, but not Emily Gilley.
“I like to just go stand in it because we need it so bad it makes me feel good. I know that comes from my farmers roots,” said Emily Gilley.
Many growers agree with her.
“This has been a fantastic series of storms,” said Ryan Jacobsen.
Ryan Jacobsen of the Fresno County Farm Bureau recalls last December when no rain fell on the valley floor.
“So starting off the beginning of December this is a very welcome sign. Also when you get water this time of year you get grass growing up in the foothills and that's very important for our cattle ranchers,” said Jacobsen.
As for snow, China Peak Mountain Resort received 10 inches at its base and added three feet to the top of the mountain.
“Not only was that terrific, it was almost perfect in terms of snow quality. This time of year you want it very wet and very dense to build that base because you're working off the bare ground,” said Tim Cohee, owner of China Peak Mountain Resort.
Tim Cohee says Mother Nature delivered these storms at the perfect time.
“To have snow on the ground with a solid base and most of your terrain open before Christmas is what you always hope for and with a tiny bit of luck we'll be in good shape the next five to seven days,” said Tim Cohee.
Cohee says he hopes to open five chair lifts at the resort this coming week.
