An important reminder to keep things like your bank account number private because identity theft continues to be a growing problem.

At Tuesday mornings Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting, Table Mountain Rancheria announced it's donating money to the Fresno County District Attorney's Office to help with identity theft awareness and prevention.

Fresno County District Attorney Elizabeth Egan said, "Don't leave any checks in your mail box. Don't put checks in your mail box. Check your banking statements every month. Take the extra step to review every line and raise a flag immediately if you see anything suspicious."

Identity theft is especially a problem during the holidays.

It's always important to not leave any valuable information inside your car because thieves can break in and get it.
