Two men are in custody after an off duty Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy was shot in the back.

Christopher Touchstone and Larry McLaughlin are suspected of shooting Mike Montanez with an air rifle while he was riding his bike on Friant Road.

The shooting happened on Tuesday and the arrests came after an anonymous tip.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said, "The suspects were driving down the road that day and it appears as if they actually did this on a dare or just for fun, that they were going to shoot somebody while they were traveling down that roadway."

The deputy has the pellet lodged in his back but is reported to be in good condition.

Isnt it wonderful how they can catch two guys who shoot a cop in the ass with a pellet gun but cannot arrest the known home invaders who shot and beat my 79 year old father Bill Gaede. We have identified the men who shot and beat and robbed him, they have admitted it to numerous witnesses, they have been picked out of a lineup. But because they are Bulldog gang members who snitch on their buddies ( John Paul Guerra) they are given amnesty. WTF?
