Fresno police stopped a suspect wanted for gun crimes, which led them to busting an interstate drug operation.

The MAGEC unit set up a sting operation and conducted a traffic stop on the suspect, David Marks.

When the officers searched Marks' vehicle, they discovered marijuana for sale and a bullet proof vest.

Marks was arrested along with a passenger, Peter Bandaphone, a known Lao Blood gang member with an outstanding felony drug warrant.

Officers went to the apartment Marks had just left and found more than 85 pounds of marijuana, valued at over $85,000.

Investigators say it appears the marijuana operation has ties to the State of Texas.

Police arrested another suspect, Keo Souvannasane, at the apartment.

Sgt. Paul Cervantes with the Fresno Police Department said, "I think the mission is pretty clear. We're part of the gang unit. Our mission is to locate, identify and arrest subjects engaged in nefarious activity. If you're a gang member in the City of Fresno, we will find you and arrest you."

The suspects were all booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges.
