Popping popcorn, fizzing soda and the chatter of excited movie goers provided the soundtrack for Friday's grand opening of the Met Cinema. And probably no one was more excited to see the theater's doors open and projectors humming than the man in the straw hat.

“I’m feeling a little bit of elation right now. It's been a four month campaign to get this place open," said Matt Sconce.

Sconce and two others formed Met Heroes when it looked like the theater would be closed for good and thanks in part to a creative new membership program they hope they have laid the foundation for many successful years to come.

“Well the future of the theater in this community is epic. The community loves film, they are avid moviegoers, they just needed a place to be able to go and now we have given them a way with this new membership model," said Sconce.

For a set monthly fee, members have access to a variety of the newest releases and a new coffee bar and fully stocked concession's ensures no one will go hungry. But for those in attendance Friday, it was the story of how it all came to be that left a lasting impression.
