The members-only club that opened in 1963 was forced to close its doors because of low membership and the slow economy.

The club originally opened on the top floor of the Paterson Building and then moved to its current location on Kern Street near Van Ness in 1982.

People who love the club can't believe it's gone.

Sarah Harris, a downtown lawyer said, "I'm really disappointed... There are professionals and there are people down here that love working downtown and we know that it can't be the community we want it to be unless we have support."

Members found out the club was closing on Tuesday, ironically the same day the City of Fresno hosted a breakfast meeting about downtown revitalization efforts.
