A man was arrested after he crashed his SUV into a house and ruptured a gas line.

It happened around 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning at a home on Fremont and Chestnut, near Herndon Avenue in Fresno.

Police say it all started when they got a call about a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found a man, woman and 7-yr-old child inside the black SUV.

During their routine check, they discovered an outstanding warrant but when they tried to arrest the man, he resisted, jumped into the SUV and tried to take off.

One of the officers grabbed the steering wheel as the vehicle started to move and was dragged around 60 feet.

The suspect crashed the SUV into a home, which caused a gas line to rupture.

Lt. Don Gross with the Fresno Police Department said, "At this point, we're doing a lot of clean up, we've got a house that's been struck. A gas main was open, Fire shut that off for us. Very, very lucky that our officers were not hurt worse, that the child and the female in the vehicle were not hurt worse, that the suspect was not hurt worse."

Police had to use taser guns to arrest the suspect.

The suspect was taken away in an ambulance and the SUV was impounded.

Why was there no coverage when officers chased suspects through Silver Lake Apts putting people's lives in danger? They were chasing the stolen truck. They drove down the sidewalks between the apts This is sad.
