Update - Noon
The Kern County Sheriff said that two students were targeted: one was wounded by a shotgun blast and the second was was fired at - but that shot missed.
The student that was shot was airlifted to the Kern Medical Center in critical but stable condition. The teacher was grazed by a shotgun pellet.
A teacher and the campus supervisor were able to talk the student into putting down the shotgun and there were no other injuries. Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said, "The heroics of these two people, it goes without saying... to stand there and face someone who has a shotgun, who has already discharged it and shot a student, that speaks volumes for these two young men.
The 16-year-old shooter was taken into custody by a Taft police officer.
Update - 10:00 a.m.
One student was air lifted to the hospital with what is believed to be non life threatening wounds. A teacher also received a minor wound in the shooting and is expected to be okay.

The Kern County Sheriff will hold a news conference at noon and CBS47's Rachel Azevedo will be there to report back live during the CBS47 News at Noon.
There are reports that at least two people were shot Thursday morning at Taft High School in Kern County.
Students have been evacuated and early reports say the shooter is in custody.
Taft is located southwest of Bakersfield.
No other details are known at this time.
