A woman standing in the middle of Highway 41, north of Madera Ranchos, was hit by a passing motorist.
The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning near the gas station and mini mart, also known as the 22 Mile House at Road 208, south of Coarsegold.
It's unknown why the woman was in the roadway at the time of the accident.
The driver of the truck that hit the woman is cooperating with CHP investigators and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The victim’s identity is not known at this time.
