Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire at an abandoned building in Fresno overnight.

The fire started at a vacant commercial building at McKinley & Floradora around 1:30 a.m.

Battalion Chief Casey Clark with the Fresno Fire Department said, "The building has been abandoned for several years and it has been kind of a hangout for some homeless activity."

Firefighters had to watch out for downed power lines behind the building that fell along a metal fence and were shooting sparks.

PG&E crews were called out to turn the power off and repair the downed lines.

No word yet on the cost of the damage or how the fire started.
