It was an emotional day in court for both the Martzen and VanLeeuwen's.

22-year-old Megan Martzen broke down in tears as she testified in court in her defense.

The 911 tape was also played in court before the jury.

Martzen says she has always been around kids. She was taking classes to become a teacher's aide.
She even was part of the children's program at a Christian Ministry.

Martzen says she never spanked Ella VanLeeuwen, and stated that she didn't believe in spanking a child but instead used time out sessions to discipline a child.

Martzen claims Ella fell off the bed on accident when she looked away for a quick second.

Prosecution is trying to prove that Martzen was responsible for Ella dying from blunt force trauma to the head, but defense is arguing that Ella died from pre existing injuries from falling off a booster seat at the VanLeeuwen's house  after being pushed over by a sibling.
