A man with a firearm threatened to kill himself and others near Shields and Fowler.

Fresno police responded around 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon and surrounded the home.

They were eventually able to get the man to come out peacefully.

Lt. Joe Gomez with the Fresno Police Department said, "We did find the weapon, a 38 revolver... and it was loaded, in the bathroom with some other things."

The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

No one else was in the home at the time of the incident.
